Clearlake

Clearlake is the largest city in Lake County and its main commercial center, with shopping, services and the widest range of housing price points on the lake. It also has long stretches of waterfront and lake-view property, which is why investors watch it closely.

For buyers the draw is practicality and value on the south-east shore: everyday amenities close by, and the lake within a short drive.

Redbud Park on the lakefront has a boat launch, a fishing pier, ball fields and picnic areas, and the city regularly hosts bass tournaments. In summer, Austin Park becomes a gathering spot for concerts and craft fairs, with Mount Konocti across the water at sunset.

Just south of town on Highway 53, Anderson Marsh State Historic Park protects more than a thousand acres of tule marsh, oak woodland and grassland, along with Pomo archaeological sites and an old ranch house. Cache Creek, the lake's only outlet, flows out nearby.

Because Clearlake covers a lot of ground, from lake-view hills to small lots near the water, the best way to compare it is street by street with a local agent.
