Kelseyville

Kelseyville is Lake County's agricultural heartland. Pear orchards and vineyards surround the town, and the Red Hills and Clear Lake wine appellations are part of the local identity.

Clear Lake State Park, with trails and shoreline on the lake's west side, is close by. Homes here range from in-town houses to acreage with room for vines, animals or a workshop.

The town has a historic Main Street, and both Clear Lake State Park and Lakeside County Park have boat launches. Mount Konocti rises right behind town: the trail to the fire lookout on Wright Peak is roughly six miles out and back, and the lookout has views in every direction across the lake and as far as Mount St. Helena and, on clear days, Mount Lassen.

Pears have been grown commercially around Kelseyville since the late 1800s, and the town celebrates the harvest with the Kelseyville Pear Festival on the last Saturday of September each year: a parade, live music, crafts, farm exhibits and plenty of pears.

If you want country living with a lake close at hand, Kelseyville is a natural first stop.
